A very early and unique die trial with two reverse dies. The side with the shield was Ron’s first die and was carved into a large block. Since these were hot struck, Ron needed a way to be able to center them very quickly, so he installed two pins into the large die block which he could quickly place a red hot blank to hav it centered. All his first year medals were struck using that reverse die and have two dimples on the edge from the locator pins. The  new reverse die carved for his new collar was a standard round die that fit in his new collar. This is a test strike from an almost completed die that would be used in the collar. Only one word of his standard motto “HAPPINESS PROSPERITY LONGEVITY” had been engraved.  Ron’s says  he can’t explain the partial segment of reeded edge. Perhaps another experiment he was playing with.
